If you are new to Facebook Advertising, you'll want to familiarize yourself with the capabilities of how you can reach your target audience down to the dollar. It's an incredible tool but today we're going to get into Lookalike Audiences, what they are and how you can use them.



So once you decided on what your advertising campaign goal is, the next step is to choose the demographic(s) you want to target. Here you have the option to choose between gender, age, geographic region, interests, professions and even political leaning.


These tools Facebook provide are incredible but in our own professional opinion, we believe lookalike audience are the best service Facebook provides and we'll explain why.


Many business owners have email lists and use services like Constant Contact and Mailchimp to reach their customers via email. Now with Facebook, you can use these email lists and upload it into their software to maximize the benefit of having this list. But why would you do this? Well to create your lookalike audience!


Instead of playing a guessing game on Facebook and choosing what you think your target market is, when you upload these email lists into Facebook, you're making them go to work. So, first off you are going to upload your list to Facebook then second, you will have the opportunity to create a lookalike audience of this email list you have. Essentially, Facebook will look for individuals that match the demographics on this email list. Isn't it amazing?!




Word of advice: the more information you have on these lists, the better. This includes zip codes, age, gender, marriage status and much more. The more information you have, the more information Facebook will have to create these lookalike audiences, plus more accuracy too.


Example of why we're talking about this. Perhaps your customers have an interest you don't know about like heavy metal music. Well Facebook knows because your customers probably like multiple heavy metal band fan club pages or are apart of a heavy metal Facebook group.


In the end, Facebook is not just a social network but a library of data and information. Are you going to take advantage of one of the biggest data machines on the planet?
